Hexham

The Brief

The proposal is a residential development of 122 houses on a sloping site on the outskirts of Hexham.

The scheme was planned on the principle of an inner loop road, defined by the two existing hedge lines, with cul de sacs accommodating the houses. There are retained agricultural buildings at the site entrance and an area designated for the required pumping station. The scheme incorporated 24 no. affordable units, situated in two groups in the north east and north west of the site, each with an adjacent area of open space.

The scheme was designed to allow a phased development, each phase including an element of affordable accommodation and open space.
