Gosforth Magistrates

The Brief

This scheme includes a pair of three storey houses. The scheme offers a contemporary design approach for the site formerly occupied by the Gosforth Magistrates Court. The scheme has a composition of ashlar stone, brick, glass and render which are used as modern interpretations of traditional elements utilised in a contemporary form.

These reflect existing materials that are located in the immediate area, and are composed in a manner, appearance, scale and mass of the existing street to provide a modern structure that positively contributes to the street scene and conservation area as a whole. To the rear, there is a greater proportion of glazing to take advantage of the southerly aspect, with direct access to the garden and detached garages.
